With a population of around 200,000, Limassol is the second largest town on the island, and is situated midway between Pafos and Larnaca. It is well known for being a bustling cosmopolitan metropolis, as well as a town steeped in history.

Vibrant events and street celebrations fill the town's calendar, ranging from carnivals to wine festivals. Seemingly infinite sandy beaches edge the town, and the warm waters are perfect for water sports of all kinds. It's all too easy to lose track of time in the town centre's excellent shopping malls, art galleries and theatres!

The nearby Troodos Mountains harbour countless monasteries and traditional hillside villages, which make for pleasant exploring. In winter people of all ages and abilities flock to the peaks to make the most of the short skiing season!


Today, Limassol is one of the most important tourism, trade and service-providing centre in the area. The city is also renowned for its long cultural tradition. Visitors can enjoy a wide spectrum of activities and a great number of museums and archaeological sites. A unique combination of ancient Greek, Byzantine, Frankish, Roman and other modern influences is observed.
